INFORMATION ON EUROPE’S FIRST ARTIFICIAL SURF REEF
ABOUT THE REEF...
Bournemouth Surf Reef in Boscombe will be one of four artificial reefs worldwide: Narrowneck, Queensland; Opunaki, New Zealand and Mt.Maunganui, New Zealand.
SURF’S UP IN DORSET
Europe’s first artificial surf reef is currently being built in Boscombe, Bournemouth and is set to put the holiday resort firmly on the UK surf map.
Boscombe Pier in Bournemouth is the venue for this year's South Coast Surfing Championships. Covering all categories of surfing and for all ages, this year's event is set to be huge! The action starts at 8am.
Having been postponed due to bad weather, the South Coast Surfing Championships will now take place on the 29th and 30th November. Set your alarms...the first heats start at 8.00am. Boscombe Pier in Bournemouth is the place to be to cheer on over 100 competitors in the open event which covers all categories of surfing, and all age categories. It's set to be one enormous weekend of surf heaven with retro surf sessions and a number of board demos to fill the gaps between the heats. Can't wait!

Surfers Against Sewage Litter-pick Completed at Porthtowan
Clean water campaigners from Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) took their green postbox onto the beach at Porthtowan as part of the Return To Offender campaign and were joined by more than 50 volunteers. In glorious sunshine the volunteers completed a very successful beach clean-up removing just under 200kgs of waste from the beach.

CORNISH SHAPERS SHOW OFF THEIR GREEN FINGERS TO CREATE SURFBOARD ART FOR SAS
There’s only a month to go now until the unique SAS surfboard art collection
Drawing Boards goes under the hammer at Bonhams.
Key to the project has been the craftsmanship of St Agnes based surfboard
shapers Laminations.
These green-fingered shapers have been instrumental in creating the
collection. Working with well-respected local shapers meant that SAS could
ensure the highest quality finish on each and every one of the works.
